Molecular Motors

The conversion of energy into controlled motion plays an important role in both man-made devices and biological devices. Within the framework of the “Centre of Functional Nanostructures” of the Technical University Karlsruhe, our group is part of a collaboration project gathering biologists, physicists and chemists with the goal to assemble kinesin-microtubule-vesicle cargo transporters at surfaces.

In the same spirit, the "EC-BIOMACH initiative, which is coordinated by the Mario Ruben, pools essential European expertise in biology, physics and chemistry to assemble machines, motors and devices based on molecular building blocks.
